Westover Green Community School Council
About the school council.
Our school council is made up of 24 pupils from Year 1 to Year 6. Each class holds an election in the Autumn term to elect two class members for the year. Badges are awarded in our celebration assembly and at the end of the year certificates are awarded to thank members for their work throughout the year.
What do the school council do?
The whole school council meets every half term to share ideas, opinions and issues. We usually have a focus or project for a whole term and some members might meet at different times to work on their tasks for these projects. Members share the latest school council projects with their class and listen to their opinions so that they can be shared at meetings.
Our projects last year.
Autumn Term – charity and fundraising .
In the autumn term the School Council decided to use some of each class’s ‘Enterprise’ money to buy Christmas gifts for a local charity to distribute to children. We held votes in each class to decide what to buy and then had fun choosing and buying the gifts.
Spring Term – School Improvement focus
We reviewed how the ‘Playground Buddy’ system is working in the school and decided to find out what pupils thought and whether we could make any improvements.
