Westover Green Community School Council
About the school council.
Our school council is made up of 24 pupils from Year 1 to Year 6. Each class holds an election in the Autumn term to elect two class members for the year. Badges are awarded in our celebration assembly and at the end of the year certificates are awarded to thank members for their work throughout the year.
What do the school council do?
The whole school council meets every half term to share ideas, opinions and issues. We usually have a focus or project for a whole term and some members might meet at different times to work on their tasks for these projects. Members share the latest school council projects with their class and listen to their opinions so that they can be shared at meetings.
Our projects this year.
Autumn Term – charity and fundraising .
For our Enterprise Challenge last year we raised funds to buy resources for Golden Time. In the autumn term the School Council decided to use some of this money to buy Christmas gifts for a local charity to distribute to children. We held votes in each class to decide what to buy and then had fun choosing and buying the gifts.
Spring Term – School Improvement focus
We reviewed how the ‘Playground Buddy’ system is working in the school and decided to find out what pupils thought and whether we could make any improvements.
Summer Term – competitions and our celebration event
During the summer term we will be planning a celebration event to thank the many volunteers who help us throughout the year. We are also devising competitions for different year groups to take part in. Look out on our notice board in the library for further details!
